Comfort Keepers is independently owned and operated by Sallie and Clark Bongaardt who saw a need for in-home care in Delaware County following a personal experience with their own family member. The office based in Springfield at 920 West Sproul Road services clients from all over Delaware County and the Main Line.

Comfort Keepers is an in-home provider offering assisted living services to the elderly and disabled as an alternative to nursing homes and assisted-living facilities. Comfort Keepers is comprised of a network of caring individuals who are equally committed to providing comforting solutions. The mission of our company is to provide our clients with the highest level of “quality of life” that is achievable while treating every client with the respect and dignity they deserve, as though we were caring for a member of our own family.

In addition to providing these services for seniors, Comfort Keepers also work with a variety of clients who need home-care assistance, such as those recovering from illness or injury, and new mothers. The range of services that are offered is extensive. For example, Comfort Keepers perform light housekeeping, errand services, grocery shopping, incidental transportation, laundry and linen washing, clothes shopping, recreational activities, grooming and dressing guidance, as well as organize incoming mail. Comfort Keepers also provide personal care services and assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, washing, incontinent care, medication reminders and assistance with transfers to or from bed, wheelchairs, commodes or other devices. Client’s needs vary considerably so Comfort Keepers can provide care for as few as 2 hours per day or week, up to 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

All of Comfort Keepers are fully screened, bonded, insured, and required to attend an extensive orientation and training program prior to receiving an assignment. Clark is an attorney so Comfort Keepers does every thing it can to make sure the employees are trustworthy and capable.

The local Comfort Keepers provides services in Delaware County, the Main Line and Philadelphia. We currently employ 135 Comfort Keepers and an office staff of ten people. We are well equipped to handle any situation that arises. Each office is independently owned and operated but is also part of a network of more than 500 offices in the United States with additional international offices in Canada, Ireland, Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Comfort Keepers is a Medicaid-approved provider and major sponsor for COSA (Delaware County Offices of Services for the Aging). We are very proud of our Comfort Keeper of the Year, Rose Ritz, who was chosen as the recipient of the John F. Bauer Award in recognition of her contributions as a Direct Care Worker for the elderly in Delaware County. Clark Bongaardt was recently elected to the Comfort Keepers National Advisory Council representing the 74 offices in the Northeast Region of Comfort Keepers. Comfort Keepers is proud to have been inducted into the 2004 Comfort Keepers’ President’s Club.

Clark and Sallie are life long residents of Delaware County and residents of Springfield Township for the last 22 years. They have three children all of whom have or are attending the Springfield public schools. Clark was a practicing attorney for nearly 25 years and an adjunct professor in the Villanova Paralegal Certification Program for 15 of those years. Clark Bongaardt is also a member of the Delaware County Bar Association and Greater Springfield Business Association. Comfort Keepers is a member of the Midlantic Business Alliance and Delaware County Chamber of Commerce
